The opposite list is here.
Stuff I prefer here ๐บ๐ธ than at home:
- Jujy Fruits
- Milk Duds
- DOTS
- Ben & Jerry’s
- Automatic Cars – I know they exist at home, but no one drives them. Everyone back home is a stick-shift snob. I was too. Screw that. Automatics are so much easier.
- Basements
- Central Air Conditioning
- Diversity
- Beautiful summers
- Ability to handle snow storms – admittedly we get a lot of practice
- Thanksgiving – Christmas without the hassle of pressies
- Brunch
- Snow Boots
- Lemonade – it’s made with lemons (ish). Irish lemonade is lemon-flavored (ish) pop.
- Healthcare – tough one here. Great health insurance = amazing care. No health insurance = shite care
- Cost of living – most things are cheaper
- July 4th ๐บ๐ธ ๐ – way more fun and wholesome than Paddy’s Day. Also nicer weather = BBQ
- Big refrigerators
- Watermelon- all the time
- Hot sauce
- Pizza options
- Great public transport
- Target
- Walgreens – a pharmacy chain with stores on every corner means I can get my meds anywhere
- Sports teams – go Cubs
- Skyscrapers – amazing views
- The skyline – there is one + it’s beautiful – shame about The Trump Tower (it is beautiful though)
- Starbucks on every corner – great place to work (write)
- Such a huge country. So much to see. Such different landscapes
- Being allowed turn right on red lights
- The Spanish language
- Beaches. Americans don’t go to the beach when it’s freezing out, or eat sand-filled sandwiches while there. We have hot weather. That’s when we go.
